High-performance Stainless Steel (SS 304) sleeve bushings engineered for critical shaft alignment and frictionless rotation. CNC turned and internally honed to an exacting ±0.005mm tolerance, ensuring a perfect press-fit that eliminates vibration. Corrosion-proof and wear-resistant for demanding industrial, automotive, and food-grade applications. Exported globally from Mumbai.
In mechanical assemblies, the alignment and rotation of a shaft dictate the lifespan of the entire machine. Sleeve bushings (also known as plain bearings or sleeve bearings) serve as the critical interface between a moving shaft and its housing, absorbing friction, reducing vibration, and ensuring flawless rotary or linear motion.
At OM Engineering Works, we manufacture these specialized components using our advanced CNC turning and internal boring infrastructure. Achieving a perfect press-fit requires maintaining an ultra-tight ±0.005mm tolerance on the outer diameter (OD), while the inner diameter (ID) must be perfectly concentric to prevent the shaft from binding or wobbling.
While brass and bronze are traditional bushing materials, our SS 304 sleeve bushings are engineered for environments where standard metals fail. Stainless steel provides superior wear resistance under high-torque loads and is naturally impervious to rust, making it the premier choice for chemical processing pumps, marine equipment, and food-grade conveyor systems.

We source certified solid round bars or thick-walled seamless tubes of SS 304. Verifying the chemical composition via MTC is crucial, as the correct nickel and chromium content dictates the metal's machinability and final corrosion resistance.
The raw stock is fed into our highly rigid CNC turning centers. The Outer Diameter (OD) is precision turned to achieve the exact tolerance required for the bushing to press-fit into the client's housing block without warping or slipping.
This is the most critical phase. The Inner Diameter (ID) is bored out, and then a precision reamer or internal grinding tool is used to achieve a mirror-like finish (low Ra). We hold the ID to a ±0.005mm tolerance to ensure the rotating shaft has perfect clearance—not too tight to seize, not too loose to vibrate.
If the design requires lubrication, the bushing is moved to a 4-axis milling center to add internal spiral oil grooves, straight grease channels, or through-holes to ensure the shaft remains properly lubricated during high-speed rotation.
SS 304 can be tough to machine and often leaves micro-burrs. The bushings are thoroughly deburred and passed through an ultrasonic cleaning bath to remove all traces of cutting fluids, swarf, and contaminants, delivering a pure, clean surface.
Because ±0.005mm cannot be measured accurately with standard calipers, we utilize pneumatic air gauges or digital bore micrometers to verify the ID. Passed batches are individually wrapped to protect the precision surfaces and packed in export-grade cartons.
Properties: An austenitic stainless steel offering excellent corrosion resistance, high structural strength, and good wear characteristics against softer steel shafts. Unlike brass or bronze, SS 304 will not degrade when exposed to harsh cleaning chemicals or food byproducts.
Best For: Food processing machinery, packaging lines, marine equipment, pharmaceutical pumps, and environments requiring frequent washdowns.
Standards:
Properties: The traditional material for friction bearings. Bronze alloys contain elements like phosphorus or lead that act as internal solid lubricants. They are softer than steel shafts, meaning the cheaper bushing will intentionally wear down before the expensive shaft does.
Best For: High-speed internal combustion engines, heavy earth-moving equipment linkages, and systems where continuous oil lubrication is present.
Standards:
Ensuring perfectly aligned, vibration-free rotation of impellers and drive shafts within fluid handling pumps.
SS 304 provides the non-toxic, rust-free, washdown-ready performance required for food-grade conveyors and mixers.
Used in heavy-duty linkages, steering columns, and transmission systems where exact shaft alignment is critical.
Corrosion-proof bushings for deck machinery, winches, and rudder assemblies exposed to harsh oceanic environments.
